Up, up, and away!

UpdatesJanuary 28, 2016

First the wall frames were built, now the floor frames have just been introduced to the prerelease branch. The new floor frames do exactly as you’d expect, they allow you to “build” a hole into your floor/roof and fit items into that like hatches with ladders and grills to keep your base secure, but still allow you to look/move up outside or to the next level.

These things are super cool and should negate the need to waste foundation space with ladders up to doors instead of using stairs which a lot of bases are doing. Once you’ve climbed up or down the ladder attached to the hatch you simply close it again and it’s secure with floorspace back that you can walk around.

Right now it’s unclear how much health these items are going to have including the wall frame inserts as they’re all set to 250 at this stage, but no doubt that’ll be adjusted to something more appropriate. Further they look like standard BPs currently but this could change. The Ladder Hatch has a crafting cost of 150 Wood and 300 Metal Fragments, while the Floor Grill has a crafting cost of 150 Metal Fragments.

All this new building stuff is cool, that’s all that needs to be said about it. Hopefully both the wall and floor frames plus their inserts will be available in the next patch. We can’t wait to see what you do with them!
